Frequently Asked Questions
How is WPM calculated?
WPM is calculated as the number of correctly typed characters divided by 5 (the average word length), divided by the time taken in minutes. Typing errors reduce your final WPM.
What happens if I finish before the timer runs out?
If you complete the passage before a countdown timer ends, the result is marked "Finished Early" and shows how many seconds you had to spare.
Can I practice with my own text?
Yes. Choose "Custom Text" to paste your own paragraph, or upload a .txt file and it will be loaded as your passage automatically.
Is my typing history saved?
Yes. Your history, best scores, achievements, XP, and level are saved in your browser using localStorage, so they persist across visits on the same device and browser. Clearing your browser data will reset them.
What is Government Exam Mode?
It mirrors common government typing-test formats — a fixed duration, backspace disabled, and a minimum WPM plus accuracy needed to pass — useful for practicing before recruitment typing tests. Always confirm the exact criteria against your exam's official notification.
What is Ghost Race mode?
Once you have a best score on a passage, you can race a "ghost" of that attempt — a marker that moves through the passage at your previous pace, so you can see in real time whether you're ahead or behind.
Is this typing test free?
Yes, it is completely free with no signup required.

CPCT English Typing
CPCT English Mock Tests
Ten full-length mock tests built from real exam-style passages. Words appear one at a time — type the word and press space to lock it in and move to the next, just like the CPCT exam interface.
Format: Word-to-word typing — the current word is highlighted; press Space to submit it and move on. Once a word is submitted it's locked and can't be edited.
Duration: 15 minutes per mock, modeled on standard CPCT English typing test timing — always confirm exact criteria on your official exam notification.
Scoring: WPM is correct words typed per minute; accuracy is correct words out of all words attempted.
CPCT English Typing FAQ
What is CPCT English typing?
CPCT (Chhattisgarh Professional Certification Test) English typing is a required certificate for many MP state government jobs. It tests how accurately and quickly you can type an English passage within a fixed time.
Why does the word lock after I press space?
This mirrors the interface used by most CPCT-style exam software — you commit to a word by pressing space, and can't go back to fix it, which trains you to type accurately the first time rather than relying on corrections.
How is WPM calculated here?
Words Per Minute is the number of correctly typed words divided by the minutes elapsed. Accuracy is correct words divided by total words attempted (correct + wrong).
Do these mock scores appear on my Dashboard?
Yes. Every completed CPCT mock is added to your Recent Tests history and counts toward your XP, level, and achievements, alongside your regular typing tests.
