Frequently asked questions

How does the noise reduction work?

The tool smooths grain and sensor noise by blending each pixel with its surroundings using an adaptive blur, then mixes it back with the original at a strength you control — reducing speckled noise while limiting detail loss.

Will higher smoothing make my photo blurry?

Some softening of fine detail is a natural tradeoff of any noise reduction technique. Settings around 30-50% usually remove visible grain while keeping edges reasonably sharp; very high values trade more detail for smoother results.

Why is the image capped at a certain resolution?

Very large photos are processed at a capped working resolution to keep the smoothing fast and responsive in your browser. This keeps the tool quick even on large camera or phone photos.

Can I compare the before and after result?

Yes, use the Before/After toggle to instantly switch the preview between your original photo and the smoothed version to judge how much grain was removed.
