Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data?

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is metadata embedded in image files by cameras and phones. It can include camera model, lens info, shutter speed, ISO, GPS coordinates, timestamps, and more.

Is my data sent to a server?

No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the JavaScript FileReader and canvas APIs. Your image never leaves your device.

What does stripping EXIF data do?

Stripping EXIF removes all embedded metadata from your image and downloads a clean copy. This is useful for privacy — especially to remove GPS location data before sharing photos online.

Which image formats are supported?

JPEG/JPG files carry the most EXIF data and are fully supported. PNG, WebP, and other formats may have limited or no EXIF data. The stripped download is always a PNG.
